Peace on Earth

Christmas Greetings to all. Hope it was full of cheer and happy memories. Mine was quiet and noneventful. For the most part.

After two days of pouring rain, p-o-u-r-i-n-g (which of course, meant more water into the homestead), I awakened to a wind advisory. Watched the barn/shed/garage door flail about (it is done) and the stop sign on the corner bend continuously but not break. Prayed that all the water in the yard would not weaken the roots of the gigantic trees around me, causing them to come toppling down. My prayers were answered. Added to the mix, is the pool in the front yard where the repair to the pipe last spring has become undone. Plumber needed badly. Made calls but no responses. The phone book (thinner than the weekly newspaper) is woefully short on plumbing listings. An expensive matter on both ends but it will work out.

Speaking of water, there is an elderly couple who frequent the store regularly and, it is said, have neither water or electricity. Not a new event--the situation is well-known and has been going on for years. They are RANK! Takes your breath away. You can tell when they've been in an aisle, whether they are present or not. It must be a mental condition because no one in their right mind would walk around in such a state.

Pulled into cashier duty this week. Back ached; legs cramped daily. The back is still sore but it, too, will get better.

Had the pleasant surprise of hearing from my grandson on Christmas morning. Long story, best not told here, but it was fun hearing from a child on Christmas--the excitement..."I got a truck!"

As for Peace on Earth, it is a message which many have forgotten. A policeman made a traffic stop in Oakland, a suburb of Memphis, and was shot in the chest. Fortunately, the badge saved him. And the idiot on the plane? No trial...straight to corporal punishment. Good grief!

On that note, I wish you only the best! Pray for peace. Be blessed.
