The War Is On!

And, so far, I'm losing the battle. What on earth are you talking about, Missy? Why, the annual battle with the groundhogs, of course. That's right. He's out and about. So what am I doing?

Covered the largest opening with a spare piece of glass. Sounds cruel but I really don't care as long as he doesn't die around here. What happened? He broke the glass. Next step was to sprinkle the hole with some non-working stuff guaranteed to keep away critters, loaded it up with a laxative, and then poured a bag of gravel into the opening. And, for extra measure, took the glass shards and put them around and in the filling. So what happened? He enlarged the opening AROUND the filled spot. AAARGH! Next step? Getting some concrete. And we won't mention the damned cats.

Okay, next subject. Training. New program for cashiers. Looks promising. Trying to whip up enthusiasm--the front-end folks are old school and could care less whether people are trained or not...just put them on the registers. So what happens? The training modules are out for the entire week. I can't believe it. I have a new hire who is scared to death and is being short-changed in the training arena. Not to fear; the kid is working it. Successfully? We'll see. I have more faith in her than she has in herself. She'll be fine. One thing for sure and two things for certain, she may not know the shortcuts but she will definitely know the policy.

And they are still ugly at that place. Almost got caught in a trap--was asked to remove some overtime--but a quiet voice kept nagging and, this time, I listened. Found this verse that I may also have to adopt: Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

So I have three rose bushes to add to the ones out front. Rainy and cold on my days off. Maybe I'll just plant them on the back porch. Looks like that is going to be their home. Lost several of the azaleas I had planted out front. But it looks like the irises I brought from D.C., will make it. I see them pushing through. Waiting anxiously for the order I made but it's not scheduled until the end of the month.

Still plugging holes and moving stuff from one spot to another. Mighty tired of that maneuver. I guess I just need to dive into it and get it over with. Double AAARGH!

Leaving you with a bio of Dox Thrash. Why didn't I learn about him in all those art classes I took?

Sorry, Maryland. Looks like you wrote a check that you couldn't cash. Go TIGERS!

Be BLESSED!

I kinda like the Elmer Fudd analogy...we're starting to have a lot in common. :-)
