No Excuses

This is the Bible Belt. If you don't have a church home, you can get the Word in a million ways. Every tv channel is running religious programming. Fine by me. I turn to Joel Osteen, who reminds me that God is in control. Another testimony is in order.

Call me old-fashioned but I have a serious problem with those leaders who show up to deliver the Word in torn jeans, leisure suits, etc. Didn't see a lot of that in DC; maybe I didn't look hard enough. However, if I can show up in "Sunday go-to-meeting" attire, I want my minister to do the same. Thank you, Rev. Ridley. I expect him/her to lead by example. You can identify with your congregation without showing up in street clothes. Show a little respect for the House of the Lord. Enough on that subject.

It is a glorious morning, a day the Lord has made. Bright and warm. The birds are in full song. Something about hearing their chirping that just lifts the spirits. "His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches over me."

Have recalculated the funds. They are not increasing and a job search will soon be in order. Need a permanent address first. In the meantime, I'm trusting in Jeremiah's message.

Be blessed.

You are a funny lady, normally those things that look heavy are, and on the recalculation of funds, yes someone keeps taking mine too everytime i go to sleep.Sounds like you have some good deals though keep up the hunt.
You may want to try another map source though, try www.maps.google.com.

Just plain thievery, is what it is. As for the lights, the boxes were big but didn't look heavy. Who would expect lights to be heavy? And, since I didn't have to load them, I had no idea. Maybe I'm too old for manual labor. :-)

Hi Gwen,

Okay...I think I'm caught up on all of your blogs...makes for very interesting reading. Gwen, you are my shero!! I couldn't believe it when I read that you just upped and left DC to go to TN w/o having any friends, family, job, or place to live. Your heart and spirit are adventurous and I look up to you.

By the way, Joel Osteen has a church here in Houston, TX...I think it is called "Lakewood." I visited once last Easter. His sermon was great, but I couldn't get over the fact that the venue, not church, was HUGE...I felt like I was at a concert or ballgame looking at screens b/c he was so far down.

Well, I'll talk to you later. Keep the blogs going.

Best,
Tonya
